Any news on spare batteries? [not relevant]

Does anyone know what's going on in terms of spare/replacement batteries for Jolla?

My battery isn't working very well (my fault). I'm reaching the point where, without a new battery, I'm going to have to get a new phone. It is rather frustrating, as one of the selling points of the Jolla was that we would be able to buy new batteries. I certainly don't want to have to use a (potentially unsafe) kludge.

I know this issue has been raised before, but I don't think there's been any comment from Jolla since December of last year.

If your battery gets unusable (even because of yourself) and there are no batteries available, you should just claim a new one from Jolla. This should be possible as the phone was sold using specification "user replaceable battery". If Jolla doesn't offer you one at that point, you should have a right to cancel the deal and get your money back, even after the warranty time. Now I'm not a lawyer, but this is how I suppose the consumers are covered in EU. You should get what you've paid for.

Limited battery supply at Jolla Shop on December lasted for one hour only, and such a short time can't be considered as "they were available". IMO, just ask for one using official channels when you run out of juice in your current battery. Quoted from jolla.com/jolla:

Talk time & Battery 9 / 10 hours (GSM / 3G approx.) User-replaceable battery

Are there any 3rd party batteries available which have the same specs, perhaps for a different device? Maybe it would be possible to print an oth to fit it in.

Now this is becoming ridiculous https://together.jolla.com/question/65826/compatible-spare-battery/?answer=68970#post-id-68970 after reading that you can go here https://together.jolla.com/question/67961/

It's not ridiculous to inquire for news, ask for options, or even trying with unsupported 3rd party models (of which some might be even dangerous), as currently the customers are left only with these options. Or what is it that you see as ridiculous in this question @chemist ?

It is ridiculous to ask every question twice when a simple "spare battery" search brings the right tjc up with all answers needed.

There was a batch of official batteries in shop.jolla.com last december. Unfortunately if you weren't lucky enough to buy one then, then you are currently out of luck as it really was a limited supply.

I was lucky enough to get one in December. However, I wouldn't recommend my friends to buy a Jolla until spare batteries are regularly available. Sorry, Jolla.

So let's hope there will be a new batch this year to, as the first generation Jolla batteries should be near to the end of thier life cycle

@rainisto, what amount are we talking of when having one batch in mind, I am curious. I remember there were also suggestions of making pre-orders possible, btw not only concerning batteries. Also from the perspective of being sold out after just one hour, there must be a huge disproportion between supply and demand. Don't get me wrong, I'd merely like to understand. From my point of view they should sell like hot cakes.

I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean.

Ah, OK, now I see what you mean. I was rather hoping that this might catch the eye of someone from Jolla.

Yes there was NO further comment from Jolla, if there is none for sale in shop.jolla.com or another announcement of a limited supply coming online there is no battery, at least not from Jolla.

There is a 200 votes question regarding that topic https://together.jolla.com/question/3584/spare-parts-for-jolla/ and jolla knows that we want batteries!

Yes, I'd seen that one. There doesn't seem to be much going on on that particular question, though, and I was half-hoping that someone might have some scuttlebutt about new batteries.
