Hello Jolla,

I don't know how this problem occurred, but this happened for the first time after about 4 months of usage. I noticed that my Gmail accounts are not updating and fetching new emails periodically at all. So I went to:

Then I see :

Email details

Email services can be enabled for this account after installing the Email app from the store

The workaround seems to be to delete ALL of my 3 gmail accounts, then adding the first gmail account works again without that enable email service error.

The only out of the ordinary thing I did before this problem occurred was during last night when I hooked up to a windows machine via USB and the windows machine was downloading and installing drivers and then copy a few gigs of videos to the Jolla. Then this afternoon my emails weren't updating, plus a list of other mass failures:

  1. Calls would come in (I called myself from another phone) but not be in notifications and not in the phone history either. So I wouldn't know whos calls I have missed.
  2. I wasn't receiving any SMS either after signing up to a website that SMSes me. I needed to reboot and make the website send me the SMS again and then I received the second SMS. So the first SMS was lost and nowhere to be found and not in the messages app either.

That means that whole afternoon, someone could have called or SMSed me and I wouldn't know that they had. But anyway all was 'solved' by rebooting (windows style!) but the email update wasn't happening and required deletion as described further up.

Very disappointing experience. As a software developer, I wouldn't even know how the hell to even try to reproduce and debug this problem. It's about time Jolla phone gets an update I say, hardware and software wise.

Kind regards, Robin

I had the same behaviour, and solved it in the same way: remove and recreate my Google account (I luckily have just one). I didn't have any of the SMS or call problems though, so they were (probably?) unrelated in your case.

I wouldn't call it 'solved' though. It really shouldn't happen in the first place.

The SMS and call problem may not be related to the email. But those 3 things happened altogether and I've never had any of those problems before. Then again, how do I really know that I've previously missed an SMS or a call without being notified.

Also this happened after i hooked this up to a windows machine for the first time to transfer a 1.5gig video to my Jolla. Something happened that kind of stopped me from receiving things.

Anyway, it's a mysterious problem. So this post is mainly here for Jolla's reference.

I might open a separate 'ticket' about the SMS and call issue.
