Browser to start with blank page [released]

There is a closed post about setting the homepage of the browser. I would like to see another feature related to this. I open a new post because that one is already resolved.

Opening the browser loads the previously loaded tabs regardless what URL you set up as homepage. If you close all tabs before closing the browser then next time the homepage is loaded right. I don't know if this is a feature or a bug but this is very annoying for me. IMHO nobody wants to close all opened tabs before closing the browser to get the homepage loaded next time. Therefore the homepage feature is quite useless because most of the times the homepage will not be loadad, instead we get the pages from our previous session.

Another problem related to this: after opening the browser the last tab starts to load. While loading, I tap on the URL to write the address I want. Sometimes it selects the whole URL which is good and I can overwrite it. But other times (if I tap too early or too late durig loading) the cursor goes to the end of the loaded URL. In this case I have to manually delete the URL before typing the address I want. This is a really big annoyance for me since sometimes I have to delete a very long URL to clear the bar.

My suggestion: Under browser settings where we can set the homepage URL, there should be the following options to choose from. Start browser with: -homepage -last visited tabs

Or the same with only one checkbox: "Restore last loaded session on startup?" (yes/no)

Upvoted with both hand and feet. Extremely annoying behavior.

Yes!! Please add this feature. The restoring of the last tabs is very annoying if you want to check something fast and the browser starts loading multiple tabs. So please make this configurable!

Or a "Pin tab" feature, like Firefox has. Anything but the current behavior.

I strongly support this suggestion. I don't like having lots of apps running and tend to just close the browser when I'm finished looking at something. Next time I usually want to look at something else, but first have to wait for the old page to load.

I have to strongly support this one. Since January when I bought my Jolla I did not have one single use case, where it was usefull that the browser reloads the last page. I use more than just one website on my mobile.

But I found a workaround for this now:

Replace the "%U" in /usr/share/applications/sailfish-browser.desktop with e.g. "about:home" or your favorite Homepage. Then as root (devel-su) run

update-desktop-database

So everytime you launch the browser by tapping the icon, this page gets loaded. Opening URLs from other programs still works, because then the browser is launched/opened by /usr/share/applications/open-url.desktop

I tried your method but it only works if the last session had only one tab open. Close the browser with more tabs and next time you open it, it opens all of them again, with only one of them (the one that was active at the time of closing) redirected to about:home. The others are reopened from the last session.

That's true, forgot to mention this. But to me its still usefull, because the tabs in the background are only loaded, when you activate them. So NO page is loading (from the internet), when you start the browser.
