One of the biggest problems the Jolla phone has is the "reboot and/or shutdown" problem (see https://together.jolla.com/question/7144/jolla-randomly-shuts-down/ and many other posts here).

I guess it is obvious by now that there will never be an official statement on the issue and people probably have some level of understanding for Jolla regarding that matter.

Anyway it's been more than 17 months now that Jolla phone is out and it is probably fair to assume that there will be a new Jolla phone in the next 12 months.

So I would like to ask Jolla a simple question: dear Jolla, can you promise that this problem will not be "part" of the next Jolla phone?

This promise can give you nobody.

They try there best and really hard work on software and hardware.

Please don't expect a new hw from them in the next 12 months or perfect software, for that you haven't bought your jolla :)

@heubergen Of course they do their best. Nobody is doubting that. And no, I don't expect a new phone I just assume that there will be one. It's just that it is very probable they know the cause of this problem but can't say it officially (for what I have understanding btw).

I had this issue, and Jolla resolved it by exchanging the battery for a new one. No more shutdowns/bootloops since then. So, obviously it was a battery issue. This can be caused by a problem somewhere in the supply chain, and can happen to any company. Even Apple had such an issue recently with one of the components in their watch.

A promise is useles...

I can probably assume with some safety that any problems like that are fairly marginal and affect only smsall subset of users.

I know personally (as in face-to-face opposed to knowing via the net) five people who have never had any problems like that and none that have. Hence I believe that only very few very vocal people suffer from "the problem"

@juiceme You are aware that the original post regarding this issue has more than 500 votes and 60 answers? Maybe it was the first batch of phones with "faulty" batteries (the first ones)? Who knows... I guess no one who hasn't had this issue can understand how annoying it can be. Anyway, this post was written in a moment of despair when I wanted to smash my Jolla to the wall... Imagine a few reboots that day and two of them while receiving a call (after the reboot no sign of missed or received call). Cleaned again the battery contacts and put again a paper between the battery and the phone a no reboots since then. I guess I can close the question now and try to find a solution for changing the battery.
