crash during sailfish update [answered]

Hi all,

I had a bad time when updating my OS yesterday. I lost my wifi connexion during update and now my phone is out. It can turn on, I have black screen with "jolla" but it never comes to ask a password. It just shows the backgruond photo, nothing to click on or to do, just lying still. The boot doesn't seem to be able to complete itself. Also, I realised the alarm clock did go off, although the phone was off. There is still a bit of life in it. It doensn't seem to recognise the normal plug charger (no little white light), and when I tried to plug it in to my computer, it was recognised as "Linux File - Gadget" (glups).

What can I do? Is there anything I can do?!

Thanks a lot!

wow 27 hours and not one response......okay, hopefully we can get you back on track!.

I could be wrong about this, but if it were me, I'd be using Jolla Recovery. See this article from Jolla's Zendesk, your symptoms are mentioned on this page, so I'd be inclined to use the Jolla recovery method.

Jolla Recovery - https://jolla.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204709607#11

If you are not sure about certain steps while using recovery, you can always come back here and ask more questions.

Regards,

Hi!

Thanks a lot!

I was also wondering about trying this one out too: https://together.jolla.com/question/22079/howto-all-computer-users-recover-or-reset-a-device-that-is-stuck-in-boot-loop/ which I found yesterday, searching for solutions.

I was hoping I would not loose al the data stored, but I guess it's a lesser loss now...

Anyhow, I will try that out, thanks again!

Well, you could always wait a while longer, perhaps someone else here on TJC can offer you a better solution, so you can keep data.

I believe there are ways to make back ups before resetting/restoring, but I'm not familiar with the procedures.

Good luck!

@Thelittlebigfoot - Can we assume you got sorted?, if so, it'd be good to close the question.

Oops yes I did, sorry about that.

Solution was: access the data and save it safely ;-) and then start recovery.

No worries, thanks dude. Just having a clean up of my questions/followed questions, etc.
