I'd like to send a picture from Jolla to a laptop via bluetooth. I have successfully paired the devices. When I try to send the picture, the laptop's bluetooth name is displayed "grayed out" in the list. I can choose it anyway, but this always results to "Oops, uploading didn't work" error.

I'd like to see sending the file to work, and have explanation why the device is "grayed out" in the ui. Current behavior is confusing.

Jolla is up to date and laptop is running Ubuntu 15.04. Bluetooth works on laptop - I can send file from laptop to Jolla ok.

Hi,

device name grayed out means that the device did not advertise OBEX push profile (OPP) server in its service records. I.e. it did not have the service for receiving files running at the moment service discovery was made.

Since it is possible that e.g. on a laptop the user might enable the service after we did service discovery we chose to provide a visual hint but allow attempting to share also to grayed out devices.

You'll have to check Ubuntu documentation how to enable receiving files. I'm not running Ubuntu 15.04 myself, but perhaps this will help: https://help.ubuntu.com/stable/ubuntu-help/sharing-bluetooth.html

Thanks! This solved the issue. I'm pretty sure that bluetooth receiving was enabled by default in earlier Ubuntu releases.

I'm still leaving this tagged as a feature request, as the current behaviour is still confusing for user.
