In some places (e.g. a library) you have to stay quiet. So I can't use the current clock alarm there.

However it would be nice to use some sort of silent alarm. So you can get notified without disturbing others to much (e.g. when you have to leave).

So either let the backside LED blink or toggle the screen color or something else which is noticeable enough to see it immediately (the RGB front LED is kind of to dark for this case) but not so intrusive that it disturb everyone around you. So no sound and no constant vibration.

If this feature or a corresponding feature request already exists please link it. I couldn't find anything.

You could activate a silent ambience while staying in library. Then, just set an appointment with an alarm. At the time of the appointment, the screen will activate and notify you about your appointment without noise or vibration. Isn't that, what you want?

EDIT: You are right, ambiences currently do not control the alarm sound. What I really wanted to say was, that you could deactivate vibration when silencing the phone. After that you do silence the phone. An appointment with a reminder will then be visual only, no sound effects.

I made a new ambience where I chose "No sound" everywhere. However The alarm still makes the default ring sound. So this doesn't work. Also I still have constant vibration. Both is unwanted. Or is there any other way to make a silent ambience? Additionally just have the screen light up is very discrete. In my opinion a little bit to discrete.

So you would have to decide, what you want. Do you want it discrete, well use the screen. Do you want the phone to attract your (and maybe others) attention, use some sort of noise. I guess you were thinking about a bright blinking led, well, I'm sorry this is not built into the phone.

I was indeed thinking about a bright blinking led. And the Jolla phone does have one. The camera flash led would be perfect for this. The screen alone might be suitable too if it would turn on with max brightness and in some bright color. I tried using the calendar reminder. But if I don't look every few minutes directly on my screen it's hard to see the notification. A blinking camera flash could even be seen in the corner of the eye. This might also attract the attention of people sitting close by, but not the attention of everyone around like a sound alarm would do. So in my opinion this would be a good compromise.

The phone does have the hardware. At the moment just the software is missing.

Nonetheless, thanks for your response. Using appointments isn't optimal but it is at least better than using the alarm clock with a sound alarm.
