Upgraded to 1.1.6.27 yesterday evening and received two empty mails today, something I've never had before. I don't think this is a duplicate of the old and resolved Bug / Email IMAP: empty emails appear in IMAP directories as this wasn't about received mails.

I'm using IMAP/Idle on my ISPs mail server. I have two accounts on this one server and observed the issue on both of them, while at the same time my other mobile phone received both mails just fine.

In the preview/inbox, the mails look like so: Inbox

Note the string here - it's from the boundary in the mail's header:

  boundary="b1_8ef5a45fe6211e5d8515a49cc9a9c2ab7f9d3b751433844935"

and shouldn't appear in the body.

The other one is correct at least in this regard: The boundary, even tough present in the header, doesn't show up:

inbox

Note that in this case, the mail I received from noreply@jolla.com at 17:03 shows no preview, either. The preview did show up, though, once I had opened the mail.

Both mails are newsletters (one from Indiegogo, the other one from a local theatre) I receive on a regular basis. The Jolla phone never had a problem showing them.

Just for completeness, here's the first mail as it looks opened:

mail open

and this is how the details look:

Is there anything else I could publish/send to find the reason for this?

This seems to be related to IMAP IDLE, I've seen this once some time ago but was not able to catch the issue, probably is caused by a crash, will keep an eye on it.

@VDVsx I disabled IMAP Idle and switched back to syncing every 15min ... Lets see if this helps. Also, I emptied my inbox on the server side so the phone should have forgotten about those mails.

I've received a couple more of these mails meanwhile, maybe a better description than "empty mail" now would be:

"From:" and "Subject:" are always empty. The body contains either nothing or things that shouldn't be there, like either the boundary string or an incomplete part of the HTML source of the mail body. What the mails had in common was that they were all commercial newsletters, probably generated by some special application rather than a mail client for end users.

Opening the mails doesn't change a thing, nor does closing and re-opening the client, manually syncing or re-starting the phone. The broken mails stay as they are.

I don't know if this is the same issue, but I just found these on the bottom of my inbox:

But I didn't receive them – they were marked as read. And they don't even have a timestamp.

It's a Zoho mail account; I use it on my Jolla with Exchange Activesync (because there's a problem with Jolla and the Zoho smtp), but I use the same account on my desktop with imap. I don't see these mails on my desktop.

@VDVsx just to let you know: I never had this problem again after I switched from Idle to "check every 15min". Received some Indiegogo newsletters meanwhile, no problem at all. So it's probably a thing with IMAP Idle as you said. Pity, though, as I'd like to use this feature in the long run...

Switched back to IMAP Idle in 1.1.9.28, problem still exists. :(

What are your mail setting? IMAP? POP3? If IMAP, do you use IMAP Idle?
