...I know it's somehow outdated to send mms nowadays but it will be nice if available

Could also be done by community. (Like it was on N900) Of course it would be sweet to have integrated in the messages app, but imho there are things to prioritize higher". My two cents :-)

It reminds me "FMMS" for N900 :)

I've been on Frals to ask him, he's at least made a script to send mms from commandline. :-) Check his twitter (@frals)

@eric did you mark this with roadmap? or was this invalidly marked roadmap?

@AL13N Yes, I did mark it intentionally.

As @eric hinted with the roadmap tag: we're working on it. It's an important feature.

I can't make any promises at this point about when it will show up or what specifically will be supported. But, we are actively working on it.

In my opinion discussions about alternatives to MMS, its outdatedness or the technical pain of full MMS implementation miss, what makes MMS an absolutely crucial feature for Jolla: SMS/MMS are THE standard on every phone around the world to send messages or pictures. SMS/MMS are deeply rooted in the short and very successful history of cellphones, its users and in what services users expect to find on their phones. Do not deliver an absolutely great device, that lacks what people at least would have expected. Jolla must be aware, that the moment you decide against MMS, you delete a large number of future orders from Jolla shop. IMO this number might be large enough to sink this precious little boat. Please do remember, that the N9, the only comparable device with full MMS, was quite a success despite the fact, that everybody knew it was still born. Get yourself used to the feeling, that not only addicts, but a great great number of so called 'common people' will absolutely love their Jolla TOH. You do a great job!

@corneliusg: I agree with you completely. Some excuses for not needing MMS would apply to SMS equally well. Why use SMS when you can send emails with the mobile? However, I understand not implementing MMS right away if technical difficulties lead to prioritizing different features over it.

@corneliusg: I also agree with you, but your answer is a comment, not a "real" answer that should come from Jolla in the form of an (sort-of-)official "it's on the roadmap (or not)". The MMS question should stay in the unanswered pool as long as nobody from Jolla has written such a reply.

I agree MMS is vital. 1) There are a lot of cell phone users, who read their email only occasionally or don't use email at all 2) Sending and receiving pictures must be available out of the box. Configuring email in Jolla is not simple for all email operators

I do not use email in my phone and i like to send pics or othes "big" file. Mms is very important feature.

I would like to have mms support for a completely different reason. It's very common to send contact details (as vcard) via mms. If I choose send vcard via message on Android it's done as MMS. At least for this reason there should be support. At the moment the messages simply do not arrive and the receiver does not even get a notification (which might be a separate bug).

Update: See also this question that is related to the send/receive contacs only

@jukey, indeed, is depend of your operator services. As true exemplewith Swisscom operator send an SMS to customer about MSM for tell me visit website for look the MMS with a single code available 24h. It fine as workaround until i can direct receive/send MMS from Sailfish.

Another point, I did not understant why jolla/Sailfish doing the exactly same mistake of 1st iPhone about MMS missing from start ! Jolla did not care lesson from others company mistake or is just for play with annoying teenagers buzz about very basic feature of phone ? MMS is very easy and less complicate than use email especially if can't send email stay at outbox

Also still done is sending contact card as SMS - the N9 at least sends and receives contact cards to and from the distinctly pre-MMS Nokia 1100 as two SMS per contact card. But, SMS contact cards are not handled by Jolla either.

Also - at least for US operators when you send a group SMS (SMS to several recipients), it comes in as an MMS - or in the case of the Jolla, not at all. Not sure if this is the same for all operators. I'm on business travel in the US and found this out the hard way, so I've had to switch back to my N9 because between that and the Jolla's insistence on not connecting to any useful data source (4G, 3G, or ad-hoc wi-fi) it just doesn't work as a business phone here.

Sending and receiving vcards works fine. Great! :)
