After update 1.1.6.27, no sound from internal speaker [answered]

Since the update from 1.1.6.26 to 1.1.6.27 my internal speaker doesn't work when receiving a call. When pressing loudspeaker, I hear the other person again (but obviously via the loudspeaker)

Via CSD I tested the 'Receiver Playback', which failed, the other speakers still work.

Tried to restart pulseaudo, but didn't receive feedback from echo and restarting pulseaudo via the terminal or restarting the device itself didn't solve this issue.

I should add that the previous update (25->26) didn't go well either, but system reset fixed that for the most. I do have symlinks to documents and playlists in my system which seem to be unable to delete, but all the functions of the phone worked fine again.

Do you have suggestions as what I can try to fix my sound?

Have you tried to start the update again from the command line? Maybe a package problem. become root devel-su then version --dup

Reinstalling the phone app also solves many problems, pkcon install voicecall-ui-jolla.

Thanks! I've tried starting the update again, but the feedback was "no updates found. Try again later". I also reinstalled the phone-app with the command above, but the CSD test still failed.

I've contacted Care and they suggested the following:

I'm sorry to hear of this situation. It sounds like your device should be sent into repair, as receiver defects have almost always turned out to be hardware related issues in the end.

There is one thing I would like for you to try before sending in for a repair, though:

Please ensure that your Jolla is connected to the internet, preferably WLAN. Please also attach your Jolla to a charger.

1) Go to Settings > System > Developer Mode 2) Enable Developer Mode. Doing so will download the application “Terminal” from the Jolla Store. 3) Open “Terminal” from the end of your installed applications list, and type the following into Terminal. 4) Press “enter” after typing in each line :

version --dup

Once this process completes, please restart your device and see if the receiver works now.

Should this not solve the issue but you feel it could still be a software related issue, then the only way to test this is to perform a device reset.

If all the above options fail, then we are left with sending your device in for a repair.

Unfortunately all the suggestions both from here at together.jolla and from Care didnt work, so I contacted them again to let my phone send in to repair.

Sad to hear, but good for your phone. It will come back healthy! ;)

The service was great! Send it back via their instructions, it arrived the next day and and its back at my place a week later. Software is updated and the speaker works fine again!

You might want to check this thread: https://together.jolla.com/question/94289/phone-lost-audio-from-phone-speaker-since-last-update-loud-speaker-works-fine/ which seems to be identical to your problem.

Thanks! I tried the suggestions there, installing the white TOH and pressing the sides of the phone, but afterwards it still doesn't play sound when I play the Receiver Playback test in CSD

Will-Do ( 2015-06-17 12:46:03 +0300 )edit

Have you also reinstalled the software for the TOH?

At first only my poppy-red TOH was installed (after I previously reset my phone) so I installed the white TOH again, but no fix. Uninstalled them both, installed them again, rebooted the phone, but unfortunately still no sound from the internal speaker
