I'm probably going to get a lot of hate for this. But am I the only one that doesn't want a qwerty keyboard? I honestly like virtual keyboards better. I'm fine with a qwerty TOH, but I've heard people asking/wishing for a qwerty keyboard on the second phone Jolla makes. I'm not too fond of that idea, considering that would make the use of a qwerty keyboard kinda mandatory.

there are pros and cons to a physical keyboard. the sturdiness, ease of manufacturing and only one hardware for all markets currently make the industry favor software keyboards - so many end users are used to them thanks to not really being given a choice. here however you find a lot of former nokia business grade device users who love the pros: keys you can feel, multitouch (which was a problem on touchscreens some years ago), saved screen estate.
so perhaps your perception is biased, since the answer to your question is no, you're not the only one

Why? It isn't mandatory on the N900.
strongm ( 2014-01-03 21:29:00 +0300 )editThere is no reason to get hate for this. It's simply a matter of personal preferences. I'd for example love to get proper keyoard, not just TOH (I don't believe it would be good). And if then next phone is with keyboard, you simply have choice not to buy it.
koudi ( 2014-01-03 21:48:14 +0300 )editI myself mis the old Nokia (virtual) alphanumeric keyboard :D it was the best thing ever to write with on my Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic and I would hope for it to come back, then I wouldn't need physical qwerty :)

That way I'm missing out on a great new phone with perhaps better specs. Anyway, as long as a phone with keyboard doesn't turn into a recurring thing, I'm fine.

Of course landscape is an essential feature and should be added to Messaging, Email, Browser and Maps ASAP. Funnily enough Terminal has had landscape from day one :D
