I guess this is due to the FUSE Implementation of it. But when i download Music, Videos, Pictures, whatever in Android Apps, they cant be accessed by the Jolla system.

I had to write an bash-script to pull out the informations of the Android Storage, but i'd guess that wont be a proper solution for a lot of people.

No I think it's because android support folders are not indexed by Tracker process. You can add them to the tracker process and they will appear in the gallery

Look at this thread.

Im not sure about this. The whole Home-Directory is in the Indexer normally.

I created an sd directory in ~/sd and mounted my SD Card there, all images/sounds i put there got indexed automatically even though i never touched the tracker.

SD Card gets indexed but android directory not. I never saw a picture from whatsapp in gallery only while using mitakuuluu. But in the mentioned thread you can add android directory to tracker so pictures should appear... I think :D

I tried adding them to the tracker, no Change at all. Neither Media Player, nor Gallery Display any Music nor Images.

And why should SD Cards (i mounted mine by Hand in /home/nemo/sd) get indexed automatically?

My SD Card only gets indexed when it is mounted in /home/nemo/, if i Mount it somewhere else, nothing happens.

So i think that the home Directory gets indeed automatically and there is some technical Limitation with the Android_storage

Does your android_storage contain a .nomedia-file? You have to delete all .nomedia files! For example whatsappfolder is containing one, delete it, cause folders with .nomedia-file won't get indexed even if it is on the list of tracker-process..

There is no .nomedia-file as war as i can see.

Even ls -lah doesnt show it.

That does not seem to be correct. I can view any downloaded files (including pictures, music, PDF etc) with native Jolla apps without pulling them from android_storage. This is how android_storage folder looks from File Browser (which is a native Sailfish application):

image description

As you can see, the contents of android_storage folder can be accessed by Jolla system. The only problem is that the player/gallery don't find music/image files which are in this folder, but it's obviously some bug of the indexer, as @drummer12 suggested.

EDIT 30.06.2015: actually I was wrong, I've checked my Jolla right now and even apps like gallery and player have access to android_storage. I tested the access with these 4 apps:

  • Multimedia player: properly shows mp3 files which are in android_storage. I guess the tracker got confused because I was turning Dalvik on and off, which made those files (dis|re)appear, and now it recovered.
  • Gallery: properly shows images which are in android_storage.
  • Document viewer: properly shows PDFs/DOCs/whatnot which are in android_storage.
  • Native Sailfish browser: AFAIU it doesn't allow to select whatever file I want to upload, so I couldn't see how it 'sees' the filesystem. However, I chose 'Pictures' and saw all my images from both /home/nemo/pictures AND from android_storage.

I guess the bottom line here is that nothing described by OP is applicable to my phone.

You have to differentiate between native apps and native file picker. For sure File Browser shows all files, cause it has root access. Normal Apps can only access the indexed files. As you can check try to upload something with native browser for example in an answer here or something else...

@drummer12: done. I edited the answer.

Ok that's very interesting. In my case gallery doesn't show any media files stored in /home/nemo/android_storage. I actually use whatapp for android, but none of the received media files are shown in gallery...
