gtalk video support [not relevant]

would be nice to see a plugin like n9 had to support video calling thru gtalk or other integrated services

That would require a full Google Voice account (play services required, and Google Voice is not available in all countries). But there are some 3rd party services enabling video calls which you could try. For example Fring (Android app) includes add-on for importing gmail contacts.
