This issue is about maps application variant which would provide accurate local map data to use for example in orienteering and travelling offroad ("terrain maps"). A native Sailfish port for such "terrain map" application could use full potential of Sailfish features. There are at least some Android based applications for such "terrain maps" but a native Sailfish port would be even better for better compability.

Whether you have info on developers or people that provide "terrain maps" for your own local area, you can post it here. But separate answers so these can be commented as well. Although there are no complete Sailfish "terrain map" applications yet, it could be better to mention if it is made for Android or possible oncoming Sailfish port of app.

For Finland, I'm waiting that someone would make and app that could use the maps provided by National Land Survey of Finland (Maanmittauslaitos), with GPS and offline possibilities. There's already WMS service at, so basically WMS-enabled app with offline+GPS features would do the trick.

In Sweden the android hunting app Wehunt works pretty well. Detailed maps costs 7 kronor / km2. edit: it's made for marking your own hunting areas and such things but at least it's possible to use detailed maps..
