bug in native browser
Hi there,
I see boxes instead of visible text in the native sailfish browser for a few websites. Is this a known bug?
We have moved to a new Sailfish OS Forum. Please start new discussions there.

Looks like the font doesn't have glyphs for the languages used. The 'box' means: There's a character, but I don't have a font installed that can display it properly.
I'd assume it's not a browser bug but a general, system wide issue that only becomes visible with web pages.
There's a package for Indian fonts in warehouse. Search for 'indian' there. That should help.
Yes. This is what you need to install: https://openrepos.net/content/abyzthomas/indian-language-fonts-sailfish

https://together.jolla.com/question/61109/jolla-india-discussions/ - I had raised this earlier as well
Also, sent a request to dev mailing list on including Indian languages (officially) and Soumya Bijjal acknowledged it as an issue. https://lists.sailfishos.org/pipermail/devel/2015-February/005726.html
https://sailfishos.org/developmentroadmap/ has an update on Hindi keyboard getting implemented as well.
