Hi there,

I see boxes instead of visible text in the native sailfish browser for a few websites. Is this a known bug?

Looks like the font doesn't have glyphs for the languages used. The 'box' means: There's a character, but I don't have a font installed that can display it properly.

I'd assume it's not a browser bug but a general, system wide issue that only becomes visible with web pages.

There's a package for Indian fonts in warehouse. Search for 'indian' there. That should help.

It would be nice to have a fallback font on the system that would have all the glyphs from all fonts.. like Arial Unicode maybe?

A bit of repetitive answer, still thought will share some details. - I had raised this earlier as well

Also, sent a request to dev mailing list on including Indian languages (officially) and Soumya Bijjal acknowledged it as an issue. has an update on Hindi keyboard getting implemented as well.

Hindi keyboard layout - Can vote here as well.
