Which is a well supported web service (Google, iCloud..)?

I am going to receive my first Jolla device tomorrow, and I've read through a lot of instructions. I owned a N9 before, so I am aware of the hackie situation out there. So I ditched my iPhone and got a Jolla instead.

My question is now:

I still want a smooth basic experience:

  • Receiving/deleting E-Mails over IMAP
  • Syncing (both ways) calendars
  • Syncing (both ways) contacts

What is the best supported web service for Jolla? I've read that Google is just one way, and there is trouble with iCloud. But, I asked myself: These are the most basic needs for a new operation system. So what did Jolla carefully implemented or supported for Sailfish OS?

Hi @gruberb, Owncloud works now fine for Contacts and Calendars syncing (both ways). Previously, I used everything with Hotmail (Outlook now) and ActiveSync and it worked very fine too!

I use Microsoft's outlook.com. Works well for email, calendar and contacts. Plus email is MS exchange which means push email.

I personally use Mailbox.org and calendars/contacts/mail works for me. The service is from Germany and host there server there.

I use ActiveSync (exchange) for calendars/contacts and imap for mail.
