Hi, I recently got myself a iPhone and used the backup workaround ^1 (all.vcf from .valult directory) to import the details and got them successfully exported to new phone. However, all the Contatcs in Notes section have this extra tags, whic may be useful to Jolla (one flag determines the favorite contacts i suppose) but is redundant on other phones if I understood it right. So when ^1 is implemented make it generic .vcf file.

X-GENDER:Unspecified
X-QTPROJECT-FAVORITE:false;0

1 - Settings > People should have export functionality ideally as requested here.

P.S. Jolla was wierdly shutting down and have just moved to new city and new job so can't afford to rely on phone that causes issues. I almost missed my cab to office as dialing / receiving calls made Jolla reboot till I manually removed the battery. Although I like Jolla and want to support FOSS (even if partially FOSS), am forced to make the switch.

Parsing vcf import properly is an iOS fault, if they decide to have unknown fields shown as notes that is on their end. Maybe it is the Apple way to preserve those details even if unknown. X- are common extension and totally valid.

Ok, x- tags are meant to be specific implementations and iOS (or other OS) should ideally ignore such tags? Sorry, am not sure of the standard vcf format and parsing mechanisms.

Yes, X- are private extensions, for example Evolution adds X-EVOLUTION-$SOMETHING to your contacts for flags where SOMETHING is spouse, video-call or any other special item you can set in Evolution, same for KDE address book starting X-KADDRESSBOOK- -> best is to know all apps extensions and show them properly, second best is leave them untouched... at some point showing them as notes if not recognized is probably also a good idea.

Thanks, it makes sense now. I was initially of the opinion that some internal tags are added inadvertently. Shall close the topic.
