Hi there,

Since update, 1.1.6.27 and new update 1.1.7.28 every time I place a call or receive one, once the call is finished I am unable to place another call straight away. Sometimes it takes a few seconds and sometimes it can go to half a minute or even a minute before i can place another call. This also happens when I call someone and the other person doesn't pick up. I close the call but I am unable to call again straight away and have to wait. I can actually call again once I get the small notification "call ended" on top of the screen even though the call was ended like 30 seconds ago.

I already RESET the phone, and had to go through the whole update process again... which takes ages. Please fix this before next update, as it is getting very frustrating.

You may ask me for more clarification. Thanks

Hi, what I do to enforce this is I tip once in the middle of the screen. That is, when a call is finished (no matter which side ended the call) I immediately tip once on the empty space in the middle of the screen. This brings me back to calls list and I can do the next call. Hope this works for you too.

Most of the time, this issue is a "network-related" problem rather than "hardware/software" ...

It happened with me in some countries where network reception is weak.. or when roaming...

Nothing to do with the network. I travel a lot for my work, and it's also happening elsewhere.

@mlwn: It is definitely a software issue, because I have a dumbphone (Xenium) with exactly the same operator in exactly the same network, and there is no problem at all: whenever you press the "red" ("end call") button, you can call again immediately. In fact this is exactly the reason why I use a second phone to, you know, actually make phone calls.

It is excruciatingly frustrating that such a basic function as phone calls is considered "low priority" in modern smartphones, and it is especially hurtful that Jolla follows this trend as well.

Those taps on the free space of the screen, which @Edberg mentioned and worked on previous versions, doesn't work anymore.

Also minimizing it in this kind of freezed situation, the Phone app shows the "End Call" cover action. However it does nothing at all, and in fact the call is already ended. It seems the phone app have a delay in getting the call status.

Same happens to me! The "End call" button gets inactive and no matter how much you push it does not react, also on the main screen where you can see all other apps running right now the call appears active only the time has stopped and when you swipe right or left from the main screen to end the call still nothing happens.

Helloooo! Anybody there?? Come on! The main function of this "Phone" is not working properly, something should be done. This is really really annoying! :(

Problem still there with software version 1.1.7.28 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mer2os ( 2015-09-02 11:31:36 +0300 )edit

Do you mean the same as described here: https://together.jolla.com/question/18417/no-network-coverage-direct-after-call/ (or here)?

Alex ( 2015-09-02 11:54:10 +0300 )edit

No it's not the same, but I do have the network problem as well.

This is completely different, it started since update 1.1.6.27 and now with 1.1.7.28 and the phone randomly doesn't let you place a call after you supposedly closed the last one. It can go for a few seconds to minutes, 1, 2 even 30!

Maybe I should take a video, but then all the contact names will appear, and it's very random, so very difficult to reproduce.

Can't wait for an answer anymore! I thought it would be solved with a software update. It's been more than a month and was waiting for the new update. But the problem wasn't solved and now the only thing I could try is reset AGAIN my phone! A reset is not a solution! First of all it takes ages to reset and update and recover all the files. (Between 8h to 12h). I've had my Jolla phone for two years now and the basic functions are still not working properly and no one is doing anything about it!! The phone app is the worse I've seen! Since Maemo, and Meego. Even the message app lags a lot!!! Why the Jolla devs are not interested in solving this issue. I haven't done any dodgy change to my phone, didn't install any patch! Hope another reset/update/update/update... will solve this issue once and for all!!

you've said it yourself that the problem is random difficult to reproduce... maybe jump on IRC and ask a few people about what logging you can enable to help catch the problem in action

I think reason is you have too little hard disk space left. It may say you have 3 gigabytes left, but filesystem metadata already take up that space. You should remove files and then run balance operation.

alloj ( 2015-09-02 14:13:54 +0300 )edit

I reset my phone and updated it twice. I'm at version 1.0.2.5 now Problem hasn't been reproduced yet after trying many calls... Also no network problem yet.

@alloj, you might be right, will keep an eye on my disk space. I still haven't restored all the apps I had and I usually back up my phone once a month and thus erase all media on it (photos and videos). Anyway I didn't have that many apps on it initially. I have no music on it as well as I still use my N9 for the music when I'm driving...

Will test it after each update and after installing every app. Will keep you posted.

@mer2os, please test the issue on 1.1.6 or later. I have about 8GB free on my device and I can't understand why the phone network problem should relate such thing. It is clear the phone app has delay in getting "end call" status. As soon as you get the "end call" notification you will be able to make a new call.

It occurs for me every time the person on the other side ends the call before I do.

I've been on vacation and haven't taken the time to check and process my e-mail.

But they have contacted me on 25-09 and told me the issue has been solved: "Your request (#21816) has been solved."

So with the next update this issue should have been solved for all of us.

Seems solved on 2.0.0.10 (early access). With public release we can close this thread.

AliN ( 2015-10-25 21:03:55 +0300 )edit

Isn't solved for me with the latest update. How abut you guys? I've send in another 3 logs to solve this problem.

BonoNL ( 2015-11-18 13:01:08 +0300 )edit

Not solved for me either. But the lag between one call and another is shorter than before.

mer2os ( 2015-11-18 13:34:20 +0300 )edit

They promissed me that they will fix it with the next upcoming update. So we'll see.

BonoNL ( 2015-12-21 23:07:02 +0300 )edit

Is there anybody with early acces update who can confirm that this problem is solved?
