Since the "Nokia vs Microsoft" divorce is ongoing, and will take place in 2016. Since Nokia is back on the will of hitting the market with some new tablet like the N1.

And since we all are really missing a BIG and reliable phone maker (I'm totally p**d of android, any maybe some more are too).

Why not MERGING BACK and produce again what you have been doing sooooo goood for soooooo long time?

Ok, i understand that some people at Nokia should say "I'm really sorry". But anyway, putting in some finnish proud could overcome the personal obstacles.

Nokia waited far to long, to create a phone with touch UI and usable software stack (Gtk, Qt, Maemo,MeeGo...lot of fraction between Nokia and FLOSS). The officials (Stackholders) of Nokia decide to hand over control to an unofficial Microsoft guy, who canceled an ready and working phone with GNU/Linux (looking back the N9 could have changed everything). Furthermore this guy introduced Windows based phones, which failed hard. Subsequently Microsoft has taken over big parts of Nokia for little money.

And now the ex employees should bound their future again to Nokia? Sounds dangerous, if not everything has changed within Nokia. Furthermore, the name Nokia is now bound to "fail" and they seem try to sell it to everyone like Commodore or ELSA.

As far as I know currently a battle is ongoing between german car manufactureres and american software companies, both want Nokia Here Maps for self driving cares. That could become a problem for Jolla if "Shit hits the fan".

Jolla's Hardware split is yet to be announced and probably they could licence the Nokia branding or something but i strongly doubt it. I dont think Nokia wants to swim against the flow again with an OS other than Android. As for the Nokia brand, i dont think its bound to fail for casual consumers. Nokia Hardware was never bad its just that nobody even wants to try Windows Phone. And the Nokia branding should still be much more worth than the Jolla branding

If Nokia asks NICELY, they MIGHT get a SF licence from Jolla.
