atm changing keyboard layout is not very user friendly and takes couple of seconds it seems to me that that most people use max. 2 languages (native+english) and may be it would be more convinient if we could maybe choose favorite languages and then just swipe from one to another (n9 style) or something like that. It would be faster

1.0.4.2 update. ok, i just found out, that you can actually change languages by just long-pressing and releasing space button (not moving finger to any language) and in 1.0.4.2 update you can choose what languages you have, so it partially solves the problem, although swiping keyboard n9-style still better and faster

I use 3 languages all the time and the changes are long, agreed.

+1 - I think, the N9s behavior was very fast and intuitive to use.

@virgi26 so can we close the issue with "released in 1.0.4.20"?

@ortylp well, it's not an issue, it's a feature-request. And it's not solved, but i don't even know what Jolla guys think about it. It's still not very user-friendly to change language on keyboard, so i propose to not close it yet.

JollaKB.PNG Okay, here we go. The "toggle" keyboard (red) + cursor arrows (blue) are ready to play with :) At TMO I've added the needed files. You still need to play with the indexes to select other than hungarian keyboard, but that's easy (the index is the ordinal number of the desired language, when the languages are shorted alphabetically, and the index starts with zero)

how about just download official keyboard from jolla unlisted :-) aka sub country-language example: Swiss-french (chfr or frch) , Swiss-german (chde or dech) not available on release 1.0.4.20

At TMO there is a solution in the keyboard layouts thread:

KeyBase {
    Image{
        source: "globe.png";
        anchors.centerIn: parent;
    }
    onClicked: {canvas.layoutRow.switchLayout(0); canvas.updateIMArea()}
    width: punctuationKeyWidthNarrow
}

This adds a button which changes the layout to the desired other layout. Although for me the "globe.png" is not there -- thus it just adds an 'empty' button -- it does work if you know there is a button :) The index is the order in the layout.conf I suppose, so this code switches to the Danish keyboard. Change the zero to the index of your desired language (and don't forget to add this to the other layout as well to change it back :) )

Ok, cool! This sounds good but complicated for a newbe like me :) Could you specify all the steps please? Thx

The globe icon is attached in that same post. It's white however and easy to miss

Ah, OK, thanks. I'm blind :) But nevermind, there are plenty of built-in icons, I've used "image://theme/icon-m-keyboard" instead ;)
