[Feature request] Sync notes via IMAP Notes

asked 2015-07-19 14:01:48 +0200

For the time being, the Notes app by Jolla is very basic and offers no syncing making its usability quite limited. One possible solution would be to use IMAP Notes, a solution used by Apple in their note apps.

It is not exclusively Apple's technology, the Fastmail team is offering IMAP Notes in beta now. There is some Android support, Thunderbird extension, or an independent web app allowing to use any IMAP account as note storage.

Since notes are just items in a special Notes folder on IMAP, I guess the implementation is not that difficult (read access is almost trivial, one can do that with any IMAP client).

yes please implement Imap notes

this is how i handle notes in thunderbird from the begenning - without extensions

1. Open the advanced preferences in thunderbird and then the config editor
2. In the preferences list, at the top, enter mail.identity.id*.useremail and then in the value column, look for your me.com account. Then, look the id number in its property name, take note of your id number.
3. Create a new string with name mail.identity.id.headers and value appleheader
4. Create a new string with name mail.identity.id.header.appleheader and value X-Uniform-Type-Identifier: com.apple.mail-note
5. Exit and restart thunderbird

Also, syncing the stock notes app with Nextcloud could be awesome
