Update 11/09/16: Wow time flies, it's already been one year since one of the coolest Sailfish features doesn't work anymore for native apps, but still works for Android apps. A little up for the anniversary :(

Hello. Now, when you peek to see your Home screen, the currently running app is freezing, e.g.:

  • If you play a video, the sound will continue playing but the image will be frozen. With third party player which support it, the video continues to play on the cover.
  • If you load a page in the browser, only the cover will be updated in real-time. You will see the loaded page only when you release the peek.
  • etc..., it's the same for all apps. Except for Android apps!

It brings a bad user experience, and with that, SailfishOS 2.0 loose a bit of its "true multitasking experience". The ability to make your running app half transparent to see your events/apps status was really awesome, please bring that back! :)

If you have movement ie. animation in web browser, it's weird to see the animation continuing in the small cover, but not on the full size version you are peeking through :)

The only thing I can think of why it is done is because of speed improvements

It's not just happening for videos/browser/media but for all Apps: e.g. if you use the pulley-menu to update your e-mails manually and directly peek after selecting 'update' with the pulley menu the native e-mail app will stop to update while in 'peek-status'. This shouldn't happen on a multitasking oriented phone and it didn't act like that before the first SFOS 2.0 update.

Yep that was my third point: it's the same for all apps.

And actually I just figured out that it's not exactly true. It works correctly with Android apps! What a shame :D

PS: why did you remove the "freeze" tag? I think it is more important than the "bug" tag.

@Sthocs Sorry for causing inconvenience but I think a bug report should be tagged at least as 'bug', but feel free to edit your question to your needs. :)
