As an Sailfish user I would like to be able to:

  1. Configure applications max. 10(?) which I like to be activated when selecting particular Ambiance (off as default so nothing chances / on by selection)
  2. Select order in which applications are placed into multitasking view after activating Ambiance
  3. System do some wizardry to check that if application is already open - > keeping it open, close others (Optional selection to "close/leave open" for applications not on the list ) and opening if not yet open

For example:

Home ambiance: 1. Whatsapp (top left corner) 2. SMS - messages (next right from 1.) 3. Browser (etc.) 4. Phone

Office - ambiance: 1. Calendar 2. Whatsapp 3. SMS - messages

Night - ambiance: - On -> no applications selected -> turns every open application off

Edit: This would also work well with Tablet. One could create nice quickly changeable Ambiance application setups like: 1. HTPC control + Netflix 2. Social media setup 3. Sunday morning = Reading morning papers/books + listening some fine classical music from your media files 4. Work 5. watnut

Yeah pretty nice idea which would extend ambiances possibilities to an extend that it can be compared to KDE Plasma Activities.

Did not know about KDE Plasma Activities earlier but after reading little bit about that it looks like similar way of keeping wanted applications etc. on your current workspaces(=ambiances/profiles).

I don't think Ambiences should be limited to applications, you should be able to put anything under them: enable Wlan, set status: away, set screen brightness to 50%, force landscape etc.

As said in the TMO Sailfish 2, it could be great if it works like Nokia Situation. A more verbose comment here : http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=1482146&postcount=259
