Hello all,

- please read and reread again until the end before acting in outer context situation, this thread was created with attention, that it not interfere with an other or is a duplicate otherwise please communicate with thread older first -

currently we have the possibility to customize our phone physically with the toh. We could do it with the ambience theme too. The wish would be with icons and layout.

What we could see is for some gui element. there is a new button design. The one prefer the new one, other prefer the old one. Each of them want the one, and begin the struggle.

As i had the feeling that jolla want to make a phone, where people could get his atmosphere, maybe he could produce it and give further. Would be ideal that is not limited to the ambience (pictures, sound, visuals artefacts and later the icons).

In this Ambience could be taken in consideration, the form and the design of the gui elements like buttons check-boxes. Changeable through settings parameter.

That's clear for me for each user could always just be one. But if there is one for each one, and each one is different. then give a mountain of different flavor, which could be unified in one system. For me it's clear too, that not a thing to do in one finger-snap. should be planed for having the structure to bring this experience to the user. Even if that by start it make sense t deliver the user just one "design". The basis should be done to accept more than just one.

Is it possible to have it? How much people are interested? Have jolla already made some work for a kind of customisation?

so in one sentence:

Would it be possible to expand the ambience customisation impact so that it touch (for example) the gui-elements too ? and/or other elements

(24.09.2015) Definitively i loved the old buttons design before sfos 1.1.9.28.
i find the new ones are too casual.
i could represent me to bound different button design to ambience too.
That's would be a good example, and would be smart. Have a nice sail

I really love the new UI, and the new ambiance customization too! It will be great if I can customize phone state with ambience, I mean if I'll can turn the phone in plane mode selecting an ambience as I can do now for silence mode...

This is a duplicate of https://together.jolla.com/question/1319/additional-options-for-ambience/ , please vote there.

@schmittlauch that's not a duplicate of it, the other don't speak about the one that this thread handle here. and i beg you to speak first with the thread holder before taking the initiative to close it. that is a minimum of civility.

never speak about bluetooth and airplane modus to activate depending on situations. but just about aesthetic. read and re-read and think about it and wait maybe a day before making stupid things. and especially communicate with thread holder, that you not fall down in outer stupid context situation.

This idea realy hits the spot. Option for SFOS 1.x style or 2.0 style would be adequate.

Voting up with both my hands. Back in the good old days of N9 we had a thing called "themes". For those who happened to miss what it ment I'll show some screenshots:

standard blanco theme SFOS theme SFOS theme

The left one shows the standard N9 Blanco theme. The middle one — the same screen but with SFOS theme turned on. The third one is a homescreen with the same theme. SFOS theme was created by @Ancelad (the whole development thead can be found here in Russian). Some details (in status bar) differ as the screenshots were made with some time gap as the theme was actively developing.

Just have a closer look and see the changes! Buttons, icons, everything including status bar icons. I can trully say this theme gave another year of life to my N9 (well, almost, there was a new body as well) making it feel comletely new. And it really looked very much as SFOS.

Just imagine how inspiring it would be to have a possibility of making so many changes to the interface!

other idea to expand the ambience impact:
Bound to the gps chip we could define some location area to ambiences and the switcher would change to the defined ambience. that would be great and so powerful.

This would also drain your battery quite fast. But as an option, why not. The Situations App already has this function implemented, so it would be nice to see it hard coded to the Ambiences as well. :)

@raketti …Or just add the possibility to switch the ambiences to the Situations App ;-)

@rburkhanov, I'm quite positive that a capable person will find how the ambiences are triggered and since there's an option to execute a shell command/script or even a .desktop -file, this could be done already. ;)

@raketti i think not, if you make the concept proper, then should not do it. combined with phone accelerator. some moves could be interpreted, and by some typical one would agps (gps + network) switch to on working and get relatively fast the coordinates.
but this condition should be shared to user that the whole functionalities of agps should be use to have it. otherwise gps alone make really no sense (battery drain and no location update).

cemoi71 ( 2015-09-25 12:43:51 +0300 )edit

@cemoi71 then it would have to be a periodical check, constant gps tracking drains battery too much, even if you have a-gps enabled. You can try by simply using a navigator which constantly updates your location.

other idea is to allow the switcher is to give an ear with the microphone.
Bound to some sound level of environment, then some ambiences could be switched
