I think because of the size of the telephone the vertical approach is more usable then the horizontal approach in 1.1.9.x. With one hand the vertical approach to reach the homescreen and apps drawer works much better. So maybe it is possible to implementate an option let the user choose which approach vertical or horizontal. I am curious how others think about this.

Eh? Unless you apply some patches, 1.1.9 is vertical!

@pichlo left right is horizontal...

@richdb swipe from outside, you get the launcher and can pick what you need from there instead of unlocking to home (need to train myself to do that as I do not like the horizontal unlocking either)

OIC! As far as I am concerned, Jolla is still waaay too much portrait based. Even with patches.

The statusbar should be removed from the homescreen.. It shouls stay on the lock screen... it is essential to have it on the lock screen.. but it shold be placed on the bottom of the screen to be peeked from the homescreen.... image

cause The statusbar on the homescreen feels somewhat familiraity to the othe OS and the best part of the sailfish is what to be unlike..... :) hope it gets fixed :)

The lock and the homescreen is to be attached just as the implementation in the 1.x.x.x..

@richdb so you suggest using a ferris wheel (or giant wheel) instead of carousel .
that would be nice too
and then we could have the old cover actions back.
Launcher should be then only available with a swipe up (move from outside of the below edge into then the middle of display).
i like it too!!!

@cemoi71"and then we could have the old cover actions back."--> it is a misconception that we have to ditch the swipe cover actions for current carousel concept to work.

To bring it back Jolla has to build in an option.

The user that prefers cover swipe actions over tapped ones has to compromise with only left edge swipe or right edge swipe to get to notifications.

That means missing swipe to go to ... again the notifications.. will be gone. And back are the cover swipe actions. Not too bad is it?

2.0 features: "More personalization" I hope it is work in progress and not marketing talk.

@vandersmash yes i know what you mean, that was for me before the 1.1.9.28 not clear because i am not an early acces user. but if we communicate and see the result, that icomes clearer. now i have see the 1.1.9.28, know the problematic. i try to give alternativ.
horizontal swype cover action are incompatible with horizontal carousel (you told why, don't need to explain again). but are compatible with vertical carousel...
other context horizontal carousel could be compatible with vertical swype cover action.
what do you think about?
what i like in your comment "2.0 features: "More personalization" I hope it is work in progress and not marketing talk." i feel that you let your mind open, and let the people hope to alternatives. i come to jolla because they told "we are different", and as it is told, we would get something different. i all are free, jolla too (but limited to each other ).
