4G @ 900 Mhz?

I am using Telenor in Sweden. They confirmed my suspicion that In some parts of the country they provide the 4G connection via the 900MHz band. This doesn't work with Jolla, which seems to use this band only for 3G. The result is a very weak connection (often 2G) in these areas. Is there some fundamental reason for this, or could 4G@900MHz be added?

The situation is the same for Tele2 Sweden. Not any surprise as Telenor and Tele2 are sharing the same 4G network. 4G on 900MHz, is also known as LTE band 8.

Baseband firmware, hardware design factors like RF transceiver and antenna will limit which bands are supported on the device.

OK, I was just wondering since the 900 MHz band is actually supported, but for a different protocol. I guess you are saying that the protocol (3G/4G) is implemented in such a way that it cannot be re-programmed?
