And now the weather:

When I tap on the weather widget in events view, only the week's preview is opening/closing. I would also like to directly land in Sailfish Weather from there for more details (mostly wind direction), e.g. by tap + additional menu item, or long-tap.

I do not know if I remember correctly, but I think that was possible in an earlier version. So I am not sure whether to label this post a bug or a request.

there is also another issue, the 5-day view does not update unless you toggle between single day view and 5-day view.

@pmelas, that's a known bug and tracked by Jolla, see events-weather-5-day-forecast-does-not-update-if-open.

@lakutalo it was a feature in the SFOS 1 - why it was removed, I don't know, but as you suggested, a long tap could open a menu with selections like:

Open App
Update
Select location

And if sometime implemented:

Use current location

I can help with part of your request, unfortunately, it's another patch. Available now on Openrepos; Patch: Link to Weather App from Weather Banner

The only function of the patch is simply to link the user to the Sailfish Weather app.

As a convenient (and IMO better) alternative to "Jolla weather" one can use MeeCast (from the Jolla Store or OpenRepos), which consistently opens its application via longpress on the weather forecast in the events-view, when Meecast Event View is installed. It makes sense to also install Meecast Daemon for pulling the weather data regularly (hence obtaining the same functionality as "Jolla Weather"). BTW, none of these is a Patch for Patchmanager.

Note that "Jolla Weather" is the SailfishOS version of the Foreca Weather app, which was also preinstalled on the Nokia N900. It is a closed source app (in contrast to MeeCast), which queries your location data (which is optional in MeeCast) and only allows for a single weather data source (while MeeCast offers many, among them Foreca and Weather.com, of which the latter is my personal preference, due to the quality of their forecasts). As Foreca Weather (aka "Jolla Weather") is closed source, one cannot determine if it transmits more than just the location data to the Foreca servers.

Furthermore the Patch "Lockscreen analog clock" from Patchmanager 2.0's web-catalog allows for displaying either forecast (from "Jolla Weather" or MeeCast) on the lockscreen, which is really nice IMO. For "Jolla Weather" another (additional) Patch is needed for this, which is also available in Patchmanager 2.0's web-catalog.

Side note: MeeCast seems to have an "end of the year bug", not querying weather data from next year (IIRC, I have seen this at the end of last year, too). I will report this issue.

Hi @olf, what do you mean by "not querying weather data from next year"? Today (31.12.2017) I can see the weather forecast till the 9th of January on my SX X...

Yes, mine was querying past the 31st till a short while ago then was only showing the 31st. It's now 1 minute into the New Year and it's now showing through to next Monday 8/1/18.

OK, strange behavior, here in Europe is still the 31st and it shows me till the 9th January. In your case could be a problem related to a specific combination of Meecast with your locale weather forecast provider I guess...

@JMLatJolla, I am in Middle-Europe and for the last couple of days MeeCast has shown weather data up Sunday, the 31.12. only! Note, that Sunday's weather data was also duplicated. Tested with different weather data providers, e.g. Foreca and Weather.com. This has been the same at the end of last year, IIRC.
MeeCast's developer Vasvlad has confirmed this bug and plans to fix it before the end of 2018.

@olf: Did delete my answer upon your request, as you'r right that that wasn't related to the original question.

As said, I did some investigations last Sunday, 31st of December: The problem is IMO definitely related to the selected weather forecaster in combination with Meecast, firstly because Fereca was working fine that day on Jolla weather app, but faced the problem on Meecast and secondly because, if I did select on Meecast the same location served one time by Open Weather App and the second by Foreca, the second faced the issue, while the first one didn't, showing as expected eight or nine days forecast information for the same location.

But, of course, I can also be completely wrong, because I only did spend 5-10 minutes on that problem.
