Jolla needs money, apparently also for releasing the 2nd wave of tablet shippings. How much would that be per tablet? I guess that many backers would pay some extra money if that would trigger tablet shipping. Jolla could/should tell us if that is an option and how much they need - just for the tablet shippings.

Maybe I should add: it is not about how much money Jolla needs to survive. I just wonder whether or not the tablets have at all or partially been paid for by Jolla. Jolla invested a lot in the tablet and the producer already produced at least a small batch. So even the producer made some investments. I am just wondering what is missing for the tablets that we have already paid for.

Or to put it differently: is there any chance that we receive the tablets even if the next funding fails?

it is not our job to ask. lets say 20 bucks per tablet are missing. then it s jolla s job to ask what we would like to do, pay extra... at least thats what happens on indiegogo when other campains got into trouble

Got nothing, so far. How much more, do you think, should we pay them? 100, 200, 300 bucks or even more?

Maybe you're thinking of 20 bucks or something like this? If that's the case, I'm in.

The tablet shipments are frozen while the next round of funds is sorted out. That doesn't mean they're cancelled. In the worst case, that the funding round fails, then some other solution will have to be found to get them out. Asking contributors for more money will be way down the list of possible solutions.

Why way down? I'd imagine would be way up if in the list at all. No funding means no tablets unless we ram the warehouse where they keep all the Aigos! I think if the Intex deals go through or at least letters of intent are signed then funds will be made available after the debt restructuring legalities are out of the way. As for the tablets I still believe if Jolla comes out of this debt free then they'll deliver, even though I suspect they may no longer be liable for them (no idea how Finnish courts will handle all of this stuff).

It'll be way down on the list i.e. a last resort because everyone's already paid for their tablets, so they'll try everything else they can before they ask for more money. I do wish everyone would calm down.

Edit: I think maybe my way down and your way up actually meant the same thing :)

If the funding round fails, Jolla is bankrupt and that's the end of it. Maybe someone buys the assets (OS) to use it on another Smart TV platform.

Tablet deliveries are at complete stop at the moment and Jolla is recieving ton of phone calls from people asking after their tablet and their position on the list.

12000 tablets has been ordered and paid (~10k from IGG and ~2k from the pre-sale) but they cannot be delivered because they had set backs on the display change and failed to secure the fundings.

Now they are hoping to get the fundings sorted in december and they are still planning on delivering the tablets to those who ordered them.

Rest is mostly about Jolla's story, how they have multiple small and big clients who are interested in SFOS and how they had to lay off most of their work force due to empty back accounts.

From the article: "Jolla [...] kassa on tyhjä." - this literally means that the till (aka cash register) is empty, meaning they are out of funds.

It's all this lack of information that makes this confusing to understand! Some thoughts running in my mind when I read about all this - The tablet were sold at a profit and those who bought the tablets are also paying for the shipping. So why can't they ship the tablets? Now, some are saying they lost money on the tablet because they needed to change the display of the tablet. Well, why is Jolla picking up the bill for that? If the display was defective in some way then the supplier should foot the bill for replacing it, right? Or if it was due to some manufacturing defect, then the assembler should pay for the replacement right? ... Even though I have not ordered a tablet, I am quite disappointed that Jolla is struggling at this crucial juncture ...

I think that is quite easy :-(

The money they received for the tablets is completely gone. Now there is NO money for paying the producer of the tablets and so there is NO WAY to get the tablets furthermore This is NO thechnical problem, but a financial.

We have to face the issue that all the pre-paid money via indiegogo is completely lost.

The way I see it, the cash flow problems did not start last week. They started at least 6 months ago.

Yes, the tablets were sold at a profit. But the tablet business, even though it would have paid for itself if taken in isolation, was not enough to cover even 10% of the losses in other parts of the company. I am sorry but your money was used to partially pay off older debts.

It's a nice idea, but I'm afraid that there are serious legal restraints on what the company can do right now. Some they filed for debt restructuring, they are controlled by the court in what they can do. There is probably a lawyer in charge of the process with the explicit task to return as much money to the creditors as possible. In this situation, there is usually little room for creativity.

Like I said, I do like your idea. Perhaps there is a way this could work out. We, the backers, are creditors too. So they should also take us into account. If they are seriously considering a turn around, they better please the community. It will be very hard to rebuild that trust and commitment if they fail to deliver the tablets.
