Hello,

just one question. In the newest sailfish OS Version 2 is it still needed to configure the notifications (Whatsapp) refering this guide:

https://jolla.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203442828-Setting-up-WhatsApp-for-Android-on-your-Jolla-device

Or does the notifications work out of the box? Im just Wondering.

Thanks for the answer.

Best regards.

Hi there, it should work out of the box.

Some Messenger are actually not supported like Threema (there is a workaround) but whatsapp should work out of the box.

Edit: The background services need to be activated as stated in the ZenDesk guide, otherwise you need to keep the app running to get notifications.

You need to enable the background services, which aren't enabled by default, so the ZenDesk link is still accurate and the correct way to get notifications for WhatsApp.

On the other side some users (like me) have troubles with a very late arrive of the messages. Also the accurate way shown at ZenDesk solved not these problem.

Thanks for pointing out @raketti. You're totally right, just forget the fact :)

@pema I know of the latency problem, had it myself a few times. I believe it has something to do with the powersaving feature of the network/data connection (I think conman is responsible of these). Because after I opened WhatsApp, the messages arrived.

@drummer12 no problem. :)
