ahoy, i have got finally my hands on that jolly jolla phone.

is there any way to get threema messenger running on sfos 2.0?

if i install the android version with amazon store everything went fine until first start. there i have encountered an error message showing that no push service is installed and i can activate polling. if i understand correct, polling will support no push instead it will check every 15 minutes for new messages - thats crap.

is there a good solution to use the app as it should? (push)

best regards,

tobias

Welcome aboard and congrats on your awesome phone ;-)

Have you actually tried it? I came across that message too, but I am using Threema for a very long time now, and messages appear almost instantly, ever since I checked it out for the first time. I still don't know what they mean when they talk about a 15 minute interval.

hello,

yes i actually tried it and had to activate polling until push service is not yet avaible

(theyre sadly using some google cloud crap service to do this).

using the polling option (check every 15 minutes) you might miss some messages incoming and it leads to battery drain.

best regards,

tobias

As I said, I think the poll intervall is actually a lot shorter than 15min, despite the message - at least there's no substantial lag when I use it. I also did not notice increased battery drain after I started using Threema.

By the way: when responding to someone's answer, it is best to do so by using the "add a comment" link below, this keeps the conversation's hierarchy intact (especially when there are several users involved). The "Add answer" field is primarily intended for actual answers to the question on top - this separation makes it easy for users to read past discussions and hopefully find answers to their own questions in those :)

Threema works instantly despite the polling message. Conversations are appearing imnediately. Maybe you need to activate "background services" from the settings->App->Threema preference pane . Also dont forget to activate notifications - you have to edit the androidnotifications file, though. It's explained here on TJC.

Threema is my daily workhorse, it works beautifully!

I can confirm it works instantly just fine, despite that message. Doesn't seem like there's a big impact on battery drain either.
