... there are "Ctrl-G"/"Ctrl-F" buttons & I could select some file / put in some link but no inclusion or actual upload will actually occur .... maybe I need a certain Karma for this :-o ?

It seems that images can be included in posts, if you have reached a certain number of karma points.
Maybe the threshold therefor should be lowered or it should be allowed to everybody, since it could be very useful for bug reports to include some screenshots.

In questions and answers in the desktop browsers there is a "monitor" icon in the icon bar (
) allowing you to pick a file from your local file system or internet. I do not know, how much karma you need to get this icon. There is no such icon in comments.
(Actually, when fetching an image from file system, the code appears in a comment. After copying the code from there into this answer I had it in this answer. However by sending that comment, there was a comment showing the fetched image.)

Good question, only way I have been able to add images to my posts here is to link to external image URLs (but then they don't always show inline). Would be good to know what is the best way to attach images here..
