Interested in a mail/pim/xmpp service for Sailfish?

Hi all :)

I'm a big Sailfish/Jolla fan and I would like to move my mail/pim/xmpp communication away from big companies.

I know services like Kolab, Protonmail, etc. but having the data on my own server is more appealing ;)

In the last few days I created some Ansible roles which can be used to install a Zarafa based PIM server with apache, ejabberd and postfix. It's based on Ubuntu 14.04 and if you want to have your own server it should be quite straight forward to set it up using those roles. See: https://github.com/nikslor/bootly

To make it even easier for others I used those roles to setup https://bootly.ch - right now it's just a pet project and I still need to figure out, how good it works. I think about providing mail/pim/xmpp services for other Sailfish users and wonder what you think - are you interested in using such a service on a payed base?

There is a project out there probably meeting your requirements: freedombox https://wiki.debian.org/FreedomBox/Features

There is also an upcoming commercial solution mentioned in this thread: https://together.jolla.com/question/173015/poll-interest-in-sailfish-optimised-cloud-services/

An installation on your own server is always possible if you configure by hand all components (but a bit boring and time consuming!). Kolab has recently become a paid service but packages are still available for your own use. Take a look on the documentation: https://docs.kolab.org/installation-guide/winterfell/debian-8.html
