Calendar events synced from Google accounts don't popup a reminder when set.

It's a real problem. In my case, for the moment I use the SMS notifications from Google to replace Jolla reminders but... I received a message from Google which says that the SMS notification service will stop at the end of June. So after this date, we have no solution to have reminders... Can we hope to have a solution before the end of June ?
Is there any workaround to have the reminders, with an Android app for example ?
This has been fixed in the git repo, and should be released shortly. See https://bugs.merproject.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1071 for the Mer bug report and link to the patch fix, along with fix version number.

at least not all of them in my case. Most reminders did not pop up
