As the title says, there is already working XWayland on SFOS (http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=93828) except for the input part (and was too soon to support resize/rotation so not much use on tablet). Things like long-press for right-click would be very welcome, but not required to claim the bounty. Source code being open is. Feel free to up the ante guys, as I'm sure this is nowhere near of how much effort is required

Edit: Closing, no interest

XWayland? Why X?

Please people. Write a proper app optimized for mobile and the SFOS UX and leave this useless legacy crap for the desktop. All major toolkits already have proper(ish) Wayland support.

Because you can run any linux program on it, it's been two years and hardly anything runs on wayland. The big abandonment of X did not happen, just more hacks to get them running on android are all the rage now. Have a proprietary X app that you want to run, on tablet it would be great as not waiting forever for that app, with XWayland you should be able to run it. Even SDL2 jump is slow and when it happens you get this: http://www.unrealworld.fi/ A game that runs on the tablet thanks to x86 but no rotation thanks to SDL sleeping a year on this patch: https://bugzilla.libsdl.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2943 With limited crew there is noone at jolla to push for these things, X running SDL1 programs is badly needed

@ApB yeah, no. Check the unreal world thingie, SDL2 linux app, still won't work correctly. Wayland adoption is not the cure all, proper support for older technologies is much better bandaid
