When travelling abroad, I usually swap my SIM against a local one. But even at home, I use a different SIM every now and then, e.g. for testing or to try a new service. Furthermore, having multiple phones of the same type in a household, the SIM is the only differentiation.

It would be nice to have an indication, which SIM currently in the phone is.

Requirement: If this option is activated, a user defined string (suggestion: up to 3 characters), indicating the SIM currently active, should be displayed in the status bar. There should be an MMI option to assign a mnemonic to the currently active SIM. This creates a table IMSI -> SIM mnemonic stored on the device and allows to display a user defined mnemonic depending on the currently inserted SIM.

Perhaps this could be done as part of a future SailfishOS that supports multiple SIMs. Apparently that's being planned for Fairphone and perhaps Intex? I guess the OS (or perhaps the phone app) would need to have a SIM selection configuration.

And to distinguish the various Jollas in our house we bought different Other Halves ..

The Intex phone does indeed have dual SIMs, so there must be some sort of OS support for it...
