I`m interested in this, too. LTE is spreading more and more and at least 3G is being dismantled since some months. I assume this will also happen to 2G/GSM if 5G is going to spread, because the providers want to avoid to maintain three networks (2G,4G and 5G).

Swisscom already announced they will shutdown 2G service in 2020 to free up frequencies for 5G.
