DESCRIPTION:

Jolla C camera creates abysmal pictures. There are no better words for this, they are horrendous. The Jolla C is the worst camera phone I've ever had.

PRECONDITIONS:

None.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Launch the Camera app
  2. Create a picture

EXPECTED RESULT:

The picture should be sharp, vivid, good-looking.

ACTUAL RESULT:

The picture is blurry, grainy, de-focused and generally dull. Even the colours are off.

(The macro shots are even worse.)

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The Jolla 1 camera was not the best either, but with the Jolla 1, at least after several attempts I was always able to create decent pictures. The Jolla C always screws them up, to the point where some stuff on the pictures are not recognizable. This is even worse than that of the N900.

Here are some pictures taken with the Jolla C: http://imgur.com/a/JvfO5 - all of these took several attemts to make them even this quality, I usually get much worse than this.

With the Jolla 1, I could take macro pictures of my PCBs where you can actually make out the details: http://imgur.com/a/hq7PP - these are made with Jolla 1.

Most pics I take with it look bad even on the phone's screen, but even if they look good in small, they lack details and are blurry, unfocused.

REPRODUCIBILITY: always
BUILD VERSION & TYPE: 2.0.2.47
PLATFORM: Jolla C
LANGUAGE: English

can you share a pic here? interpretations of abysmal may vary. i didn't play much with the cam of my jolla c, but yesterday evening under difficult conditions (dark, mixed light, no flash) it produced better pictures than the jolla 1 would have done.

Version 2.0.2.47? Is this stabler than 45?

can confirm. depends on the type of focus selected. the "tap point to focus on" seems to miss the correct value each time, the infinite setting isn't good either, just with the focus center it's somehow ok.

i guess that the calibration for the infinite focus is wrong, and the tap to focus is buggy and takes the infinite as safe default value (and is slightly of, because of this too).

if i'm correct, this should be correctable by an software update.

at least the out of focus part seems to be fixed in 2.0.4.

no more pumping between the far and near focus plane, but keeping the point chosen :)

A little bit better, but not perfect.
