Has anyone tried installing android on this device? Do we have a custom recovery for this phone? Any comparisons with Android file/library structure

Sailfish OS itself has alien dalvik android layer that supports android apps. This is the reason no one bothered to install android on a device that comes with a different OS that already supports android. I could be wrong but I really don't think there is any point installing android on a jolla device. Though a recovery and dual booting with android would be a nice touch!

While the sailfish OS was quite new and innovative, android apps are sluggish. Also there are a few things that i needed to work.

  1. I was trying to get airwatch agent that needs to be configured as a device administrator. That function is missing
  2. Android apps are sluggish
  3. I definitely need to see a data limiter. I suspect the device is sending some stats using the data connection, cos the data consumption was way over the normal i would use on a day to day basis

Since this is also based on Linux, the general architecture of this should be similar to an android (partition based). So wanted to check if this is possible.

BTW i am a noob on Linux :-(

Android apps are sluggish because the device itself is a low-performance device. You won't get better performance by installing Android. Anyway, the low-level structure of the Aqua Fish runs on Android libraries, so it is definitely possible to install it if you know what you are doing, but your best option would be to sell it to someone who wants Sailfish and get another Android device.
