[feature-request] XMPP file transfer
Sending a file via XMPP is an easy way for sharing. As the underlying telepathy framework supports it, please support it in Silica as well.

since we have a mms feature an xmpp supports file transfer in theory, a logical improvement to native messaging app would be a option to send files images in an conversation.
depending on wich message-type is selected the options could be different:
sms = option in pulley to send mms
xmpp = pulley send any file
fb = ?
It solves the issue not completely, but with this plugin you can use XMPP from the share context: http://devel.kondorgulasch.de/share-plugin-telepathy/ (just download and open it with your jolla) Make sure you also install the mentioned patched version of telepathy-gabble. I can confirm that it works sending a picture to another contact using telepathy-gabble (in this case KDE-telepathy), but i could not recieve files. It seems to use http-upload, so server-side support is also needed.

+1 Now that MMS is working, this should not be a very big effort from the Jolla team, and it is important to me too.

magullo ( 2014-04-27 14:38:33 +0300 )editI'm repeating my xmpp mantra: "File transfer and multiuser chat." :)
vattuvarg ( 2014-04-27 18:34:20 +0300 )editYes this will be fantastic, I use mainly xmpp to chat with my friends
quasar ( 2014-09-07 22:49:16 +0300 )edit+1 With filetransfer, I wouldn't need to switch back and forth between xmpp and mitakuuluu
