Does the /home sailfish 2.0.2 and newer OS's backup your music files in the /home/Music directory?

If not how can you backup all /home information and restore upon installing a new sailfish OS?

How about other Home directory folders, Documents, android_storage, Playlists etc.

ah i get it - the idea is to have music, pictures and videos on SD card so it doesnt slow down or clog up the main OS. it would be nice if the system allowed you to set the location system wide for these type files (including backup) then point sailfih and alien-dalvik at it, oh well i am sure Jolla is slowly moving that direction.

Cloud backup doesn't backup any media files (music, pictures, videos...) so you have to copy your files manually.

If you're just trying to transition from one Jolla device to another and want to use the Cloud/SD Card backup feature for that, once you restore your backup to the new device you can always issue:

rsync -ravu nemo@old.device.ip:/home/nemo/Music /home/nemo/

Naturally, you need to enable Developer Mode on both devices prior to running this and you need to replace old.device.ip with the IP of your old device. You can do the same for Pictures and Videos folders as well.

Backup does copy pictures and videos, but only if you back up to an SD card, not if you back up to someone else's computer.

I meant cloud backup as I gathered that OP wants to move his stuff from one device to another.

Thank you, i am backing up to both cloud and SDcard. Incognito is there any problem with simply removing the SDcard and swapping it with the card in the new phone then restoring the files? Does backup and restore function break on recognizing and mounting a new SD drive?

@DarkTuring - SD card restore should work fine, as long as you didn't do anything out of the ordinary with mounting it and if the Sailfish OS version is the same or newer on the phone you're restoring on. Backwards restore (e.g. backup on 2.0.4.13, restore on 2.0.2.51) usually doesn't work. Also, keep in mind that you won't be able to read your SD card on Jolla C/Intex Aqua Fish if its btfrs formatted so make sure you have it formatted in FAT32 (if <32GB) or ext4 before backing up to it on your old device.

thanks those are great tips and i will have to rely on that functionality during phone upgrades, also i did get an Intex so want to run them in parallel basically and see which one is better. i formatted in ext4 seems to be supported well.
