Currently sailfish distinguishes between text entry fields and email address/url address/search term fields. The latter of which do not offer spelling correction, auto complete, or suggestions.

I recommend a more consistent approach that enables said features for all entry fields.

url address every fails auto correct

search for every fails auto correct

The inconsistent approach should be fairly easy to fix in a sailfish software update. All fields except number, monetary, date, and drop down fields should have enabled the auto correct and spelling suggestions.

Please provide your experience and screenshots of fields and text entry modes you weren't happy with.

I don't see why word suggestions in URLs would be necessary or even useful.

nthn many URLs are structured and contain words or sentences with no spaces so, www.couch~surfing.org The spell correction should be able to correct for mis spelling of couch and surfing and www and org .

Yes, but many, many more aren't words at all, or are in different languages, and so on. Even the number one most visited site worldwide is not a real word. How is the spelling suggestion going to help spell "jolla" in together.jolla.com if you're using the English keyboard? How about someone using the French keyboard getting bogus suggestions when they type "together" in together.jolla.com? This just doesn't work.

nthn while you have a point there the autocorrect could be turned off for that particular url field but the suggestions turned on for those cases where it may be useful.

Another example of fields that need auto correct and suggestions is the "Subject" type fields, and this may be a baked in Android issue as well. How come the subject line in emails doesnt have the same input mode as the body of the email, as you can see that just doesnt make sense and i can come up with more fields would like the user community input as well.

Ok, you have a point about the Subject field, there's no reason to disable suggestions there.
