SD-recovery option

It occured to me as I'm waiting for my device to be reflashed somewhere in the future (bootloop-> filesystem corrupt): Would it be possible to have a SD-recovery/restore/backup option? Now this would be like a 4GB (or whatever) SD-card backup with encryption (IMEI?) to the device<->SD-backup, so you can't use it anywhere else but you could recover/repair all your data and make further copies in case of SD-failure.
