The sd card is mounted as /media/sdcard/

There is a native player called LLs Video Player (I am the author so basically its my player) which allows you to browse your filesystem and access your SD Card aswell and play back videos or audio files. You can get this player from here: https://openrepos.net/content/llelectronics/lls-video-player

In Mx player, go to settings->list. Under Scan, select 'Folders'. Now click 'add' and add the location /media/sdcard/ . But both the above mentioned native apps are also good.

watch'me from jollastore can do this too. But native installed Media app finds all videofiles for me, also on sd card. Should work for you too.
