Make a sound to indicate 'no network coverage'
In SIM slot 1 I have my normal prepaid (PAYG) SIM (3 UK). It's cheap - sometimes free - but coverage here is poor. So in SIM 2 I have a backup prepaid SIM (giffgaff, O2 network). I have SIM select set to 'Always ask'.
If I make a call, select SIM 1, and there is no network coverage, I do not immediately get the 'no network coverage' message at the top of the screen*. So I put the phone to my ear and .... nothing. Eventually I give up and look at the screen, which says .... nothing. There has probably been a momentary 'no network coverage' message but it's gone. Maybe there has been some other problem - I don't know.
Please can the phone emit a beep when it displays 'no network coverage' or any other message so I know it's not working and I can stop listening and look at the display to see why.
*You can't see from either the phone app or the 'select SIM' screen that a SIM has no coverage: that would be an improvement too. I often make a call without going via the page which shows the SIM signal icons.
** If SIM select is set to 'SIM 1' is then I get the 'no network coverage' message straight away, but with 'always ask' it seems to take several seconds. I suppose it has to do extra stuff, but if the message were immediate, after tapping 'call' and selecting 'SIM 1' that would be better. I'd still like a sound, though.
Jolla C 2.0.5
Added 28-1-17 Several people seem to think this is a reasonable idea, and nobody has argued against it. Nobody from Jolla has commented so they probably haven't seen it. Where can I raise this RFC to ensure it's considered? Is there an issues log in Mer Githib for this module?
