This is now a major annoyance for me, as the phone is normally in 4G, showing full strength, but when a voice call begins it falls back to 3G.
The 3G strength is much less here, and frequently loses the call i.e. silence then eventually drops it.
It actually appears that 3G comes from a different cell site that 3G.
If the signal strength was clearly visible in the dialler, it would be clear what the problem is, and where to move to get it working.
This probably has something to do with my network starting VoLTE voice last year, and depreciating 3G, or perhaps deploying 4G only cells. i.e Making VoLTE in SFOS now seems to be an issue for me.
This is more of a problem, because it takes some time ( a minute or more) for the phone to recover, realise it has got signal, and be prepared to try and make a call again - even though signal indicator shows full 4G strength, and it has been moved to a strong signal point it will still report no-signal
Yes, and possibly make it large. For now it is sure possible to peek to homescreen by doing an edge swipe and look at the tiny network icon. But that is one step more than necessary and could be presented more obvious.

Consider adding this to the "paper cut" thread.
