first one poppy red is still installing; the installation never ends...
Here is a workaround that worked without problems for me. Note that I had the spinning circle problem and journalctl command showed "QSqlError" errors.
This will delete your existing ambiences, but it will bring back all the original and all ambiences from covers. This has been tested on several phones and it has not caused a bootloop. However I can't guarantee that such thing could not happen.
devel-su
cd /home/nemo/.local/share/system/privileged/Ambienced/
mkdir bak
mv ambienced* bak/
reboot
After the reboot go to Gallery -> Ambiences. All installed but missing original and cover ambiences should be there.
Before reattaching TOH covers to the phone, please first remove the cover based ambiences through Jolla Store (they are under 'My Apps'-list) or by running these accordingly:
pkcon remove ambience-snow-white
pkcon remove ambience-the-first-one
pkcon remove ambience-black
pkcon remove ambience-aloe
You have to do this only once. After this you can reattach the The Other Half cover and go through their installation process as usual. In case you haven't done this, and get the spinning circle problem again, just reboot to get rid of the running process, and uninstall the ambience. Then reattach the cover.
Edit: How it works: During the reboot sailfish creates a clean database during when the ambience engine starts [if it does not exist already]. In case someone at Jolla is interested in what went wrong with the original databases, we can use the ones under bak directory.
Edit2: To see whether the original problem would happen with the new database, I removed the Keira Black through Jolla Store and checked with 'pkcon search ambi' that it was not installed anymore. Then I snapped the black cover back on. Both download and registering were successful and there were no problems. This indicates that the old database and/or its contents had corrupted at some point.
Edit3: I got a spinning circle again with a cover that I had not uninstalled first after the database removal. Added details to clear up the situation in the above process. This seems to have spawned from the situation that the ambient in newly created database has some missing information regarding TOH, and the existing copy can't be overwritten.
I did this and while i did get the 'The first one' ambiance i didn't get the unique sounds associated with it.
StanceVonKofsky ( 2014-02-15 20:22:48 +0200 )editTo tell you the truth I don't because it did not do that on my phone. Just carefulness. There could be other bugs that would prevent recreation of the ambience database. And I do not know whether there are any dependencies between Lipstick and ambience processes...
Manatus ( 2014-02-16 11:46:40 +0200 )edit@StanceVonKofsky Looks like the cover is _not_ required to be attached for sounds to work. Maybe it never was and that has been just general confusion, since the sounds are not visible anywhere in the user interface. You may want to remove 'The First One' ambience and try installing it again by reattaching the cover.
Manatus ( 2014-02-16 14:47:06 +0200 )editI have the exact same problem. When you connect TOH it askes you to install ambiance, it starts to install and the loading circle indicator goes round and round but never ends. When you let the screen go dark and put it back on the installation indicator has disappeared without any notification or error. And there adr nothing new in the ambiance gallery. If the installation is started again by removing and placing TOH it creates another installation, so you see two TOH:s installing side by side. Sometimes the second installation is named Untitled. Same problem appears with both of my TOH:s.
A little late, but here's a solution. No need to do a factory reset, just remove and reput your TOHs and then install them via Terminal (devel-su)
pkcon install ambience-the-first-one or pkcon install ambience-snow-white
Solution also posted here: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=1407061&postcount=30 and https://together.jolla.com/question/5330/connecting-white-other-half-give-error/

Solution already tested and not working. It's why I had to factory reset.
juju_des_highlands ( 2014-02-12 18:29:54 +0200 )editwhat do you mean by "I could get the image of the snow-white"? did you install the rpm from terminal using "pkcon install-local ambience-snow-white-0.0.2-10.2.1.jolla.armv7hl.rpm"? You should then have snow-white under Gallery->Ambience And yes sound is working fine here. It's the default Jolla-ringtone for both poppy red and snow-white... ;) Regards, J4ZZ
