Thenar eminence interference
I'm having issues using the Jolla one handed that I think could be solved by changing how swipes are registered/detected.
Pick your Jolla up in your left/right hand with your thumb hovering over the screen. Place the thumb on the center of the screen. Make sure your fingertips grasp the side of the phone securely. My thumb falls vertically at about inline with the bottom of the volume button. The pad from my thumb, in anatomical terms, the 'thenar eminence' is on the bottom left corner of the screen. The thenar eminence is the fleshy fat bit at the base of your thumb toward your wrist/palm. Apologies to anatomists if I've got this slightly wrong and for the sake of brevity I'll stick to calling it 'thumbpad'.
Double tap to wake the phone. Sometimes it might take a few goes.
On the lockscreen, try swiping with your thumb from left edge to right. The ambiance panel might peek out from the side but my thumb pad seems to be registering on the screen causing the swipe to not work.
On the multi-tasking screen, open up an app.
Holding the phone the same way, with your thumbpad resting on the bottom of the screen, try swiping back to the multi-tasking screen. For me, 7 out of ten times it results in a peek action because the thumbpad has stopped the swipe.
Now, you may say "You're holding it wrong" but the alternative is to balance the phone gingerly on your other fingertips rather than securely grasping your phone. I've almost dropped the phone many times when performing fingertip gymnastics to relocate it one-handed such that my thumbpad isn't touching the screen.
Could the screen discount the thumpad touching the screen?
I don't have any problems with the examples you mention, and I have relatively small hands, but getting to and from the events screen using only one hand can be quite cumbersome.
