What is Kirigami From KDE Techbase:

Kirigami is KDE’s lightweight user interface framework for mobile and convergent applications. It allows Qt developers to easily create applications that run on most major mobile and desktop platforms without modification (though adapted user interfaces for different form-factors are supported and recommended for optimal user experience). It extends the touch-friendly Qt Quick Controls with larger application building blocks, following the design philosophy laid out in the Kirigami Human Interface Guidelines.

Why should Sailfish OS Kirigami: In my opinion because it enables porting apps to a target without the ui code. For example apps Konversation or Subsurface run on Android and iOS without changing the code. All these apps would work on Sailfish OS too.

Sailfish currently (2.2.0) ships with Qt5.6.3 (the previous LTS release), kirigami requires at least 5.8.0 (and probably 5.9.5, the current LTS release, would work better). I hope they update in fall (2018! ;) )

Note however: the android version might work in aliendalvik (it's still a shame ...)

you would need to go back to a version from December 2016 which required only 5.5
