Upgrading from Iijoki (2.1.0) to Kiiminkijoki (2.1.2.3) was a crime. It didn't work. I've tried three times before facing a factory reset. Each time the download size was different and after the last trie all kinds of functionality was broken.

Before the upgrade I did make a Backup using the phones Backup functionality. The backup is available on my SD card. After the factory reset and upgrading through several Sailfish versions the final upgrade to Kiiminkijoki (2.1.2.3) was succesfull.
However when restoring the backup also using the phones Backup functionality the People section a.k.a. Contacts wasn't restored.

Is there a way to fix this? Edit: The workaround as mentioned by Atlochowski works so my problem is solved for now. However this problem remains a bug in the Backup restore process which needs to be solved.

You can restore your contacts like I described here: https://together.jolla.com/question/168959/transfer-contacts-from-other-jolla-to-xperia/?answer=169023#post-id-169023

Yes, this method works.

However there seems to be a problem with contacts containing avatar pictures. These contacts won't be imported. Not even when split into an individual file. I will create a new entry for this.
